The onsite restaurant was very good. Live music was enjoyable without being too loud. Enjoyed our dinner so much we decided to go back for Sunday brunch. This is a great place to stay. Lively and fun but also quiet and calm at night.

Located in Chesapeake City, MD, the deep-water marina is nestled on Back Creek, which branches off of the Elk River. The facility has undergone some fantastic rehabilitations to both the dock area as well as the main house. Steve stayed late to handle our lines for us and could not have been more helpful. The long face dock makes for a convenient stop when transiting the canal. Good dinner at the restaurant.

Dockhands were knowledgeable and knew how to secure boat to fixed pier. Fun being on the edge of the restaurant and people eating who wanted to be more informed about boats. Great experience on the C and D canal. Nice stop between the Cheasapeake and Cape May. In the past, we have stopped at Delaware City but this is more convenient.

The restaurant was the only real bright spot for this location. We arrived late but they stuck around to help us tie up and made suggestions for the best fendering arrangements. Although we were tied on the river face dock we had no wake issues all night.

The band continued after we went back on board, and it added to our cocktails on the flybridge. Schaffer's is a desirable destination, not just a great marina and restaurant. Beautiful view of a competitor across the Canal, too. Restaurant is good and convenient. Currents not a significant issue when taken bow first. Marina staff is very knowledgeable on currents and did a great job of securing the boat for an overnight stay.

Good food & drink, with easy access. We docked right along-side parallel to the canal. Easy access to water hose and electric hookup. The only draw-back is that there are no showers. Even a cold water outside rinse off shower would have been nice.

Good and pleasant dock help (Olivia). A 2-3 knot current with an easy approach. Dock hands are very helpful. We overnighted on the face dock which are fixed-3 foot tide.

The restaurant had a live band and the food was excellent. Very pleasant stay and great stop between Cape May and Annapolis. If a floating dock is preferred, the marina will accommodate. The available amenities of the docks, which are located outside of a restaurant and bar, are noted on the Snag-A-Slip profile. The marina does offer restrooms, but a bath house is not an available amenity. While Schaefer's Canal House is an awesome marina, they also have an amazing bar and restaurant attached to it that second to none.

Nice folks running the docks (inc their staff). However not a marina - mainly dockage for restaurant & bar (which we found convenient). Therefore, no dock restrooms or showers (bathrooms at restaurant). No stores of any kind nearby, although Steve offered to have staff give us a ride to a grocery store. The high outside dock in front of the restaurant prohibited us from getting on and off of the boat at low tide. The boat traffic both large and small, rocked us all night long.There is no bath house, so that is certainly a “con”.

Nice people and the dock hands do a great job. I recommend using this marina when passing thru the C & D Canal. On our way from Cape May to Baltimore.

There are no shower facilities and the bathrooms are serviceable. Please note fuel dock is being renovating and will not be available until May. There aren't any showers, but I didn't find that to be an issue. We had a really good experience here. The staff was super friendly and helpful and really went out of their way for us. The restaurant was great and you are a short dinghy ride to town on the other side of the canal. No showers, laundry or grocery nearby.

And cracking jokes the whole time. We never encountered such a helpful friendly and funny dockside assistance Restaurant was very good along with the staff. And fun watching all the canal traffic. Definitely would come back.

Note that the dock has no cleats to which you can tie, you'll need to throw a clove hitch or something around the pilings. The dock hands are quite good about helping with line handling. Steven the Dock Master was amazing. He's very knowledgeable and even washed the water marks and filled our fenders when we got fuel. Passed out leaflets with all kind of info.

Very good prices at the dock and restaurant. Dockmaster and crew were excellent in meeting all our needs. Location much quieter than Chesapeake Inn.

Very friendly and competent Dock Master, Steve, guided us right into fuel dock and then around to out spot on the bulkhead. Despite passing ships, there was very little rocking from wakes. Restaurant was good and steps from the boat. The dock hands were excellent. Got tied up quickly and efficiently in the current.
